Meet the Smiley Baker!
Hi friends! I'm Alyssa, the face, heart, and owner of Sweet Smiles Cookies. I'm a part-time cookier in Southern California, and work as a full-time first-grade teacher in a local school district, doing what I love!
Although I am technically a "one woman show" (baking and decorating with my own two hands), my family and friends are always behind the scenes. Making cookies has become a way for me to create happiness in my home as well as my customers' homes — which is what this is all about!
How it all began 🍪
My wonderful cookie journey started in 2019, when I baked and decorated my first set of cookies for Christmas. In 2020, the pandemic began, and I found myself revisiting the art behind decorating cookies. I watched countless videos on Instagram and YouTube, and started learning and improving week by week.
My first custom order I sold was for a friend's birthday who told me "I need some cute and girly birthday cookies, I don't care what they look like." It's safe to say I was shocked that she wanted cookies from me in exchange for real money. Ever since then, I found that making and decorating cookies has become an outlet for my soul, and I love every second of it. The intricacy, the colors, all of it.
On top of just doing the fun part, I love seeing the cookies in their final destinations — on a platter, in a gift box, being eaten. It's all wonderful to know that art I've created is creating smiles. 🩷
